With an average of 250 days of sun every year, San Antonio could change its name to “Tan Antonio!” Though this bright and beautiful weather can make days and evenings on the Riverwalk a gorgeous affair, it can take a toll on Texan skin.

At Marcos Medical, our laser skin resurfacing in San Antonio helps women and men even out their skin tone, erase sun spots, and revive that youthful “glow.” Contact Marcos Medical Aesthetics & Wellness to schedule a consultation. Our compassionate team of aesthetics professionals will help you determine the best treatment plan so you’ll have gorgeous skin “just like you like it.”

What is laser skin resurfacing?

In San Antonio, laser skin resurfacing (aka, laser peel, lasabrasion, or laser vaporization) uses lasers to nonsurgically and non-abrasively remove the first layer of the epidermis. This layer of dead, dull skin hides the newer layer below it.

As the fresh layer of skin comes into view, laser skin resurfacing also remodels the underlying dermis layer, stimulating the production of new collagen and elastin. Optimal results include smoother, radiant skin with even tones and a healthy, more youthful appearance.

Non-Ablative vs Ablative

You’ll see lasers that deliver either non-ablative or ablative wavelengths—or both.

A non-ablative laser is gentler on the skin, but can still deliver dermal remodeling benefits below the top layer.

An ablative laser works at a wavelength that exfoliates and removes the top layer of skin for more dramatic rejuvenation.

At Marcos Medical we use 2 advanced laser systems, each with their unique strengths and focuses.

Sciton Halo Laser

The Sciton Halo system delivers both kinds of wavelengths simultaneously. Using a unique hybrid fractional laser, Halo targets both the surface and deeper layers of the skin, promoting collagen production and restoring a youthful glow.

In a single session, both a non-ablative 1470 nm and an ablative 2940 nm wavelength provide unmatched enhancement to the appearance of aging and sun-abused skin.

The Halo handpiece also employs AI to map and measure your skin constantly. This helps deliver precise heat at the exact depth you need for best results.

Comfortable & Easy

The Halo laser treatment works so well because it employs this dual treatment modality, both of which will be dialed-in to your skin’s unique qualities and needs. The procedure doesn’t take long, and requires little downtime—if any.

A number of our Marcos Medical Aesthetics clients call Halo Laser their “lunch break” treatment. They come here for laser skin resurfacing in San Antonio between other daily activities, getting right back to their busy lifestyles after treatment.

With its customizable settings, we can adjust the intensity of the laser for maximum effect while protecting the comfort and safety of our patients.

How Halo Works

As the lasers rejuvenate your skin, they eliminate years of sun damage by triggering your body’s natural healing response. This firms skin, reducing sagging and adding volume while it also reveals that Halo glow patients can’t stop talking about.

The Halo laser is designed with a dynamic thermal optimization feature. This technology constantly measures the temperature of your skin and adjusts the laser’s settings accordingly to keep you comfortable during your entire treatment session.

Customizable for Your Comfort and Concerns

Our team of professional providers will customize your Halo laser treatment to adjust the energy intensity. This helps to target a personalized range of skin concerns, such as fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, and/or hyperpigmentation.

Length of Halo Laser Skin Resurfacing

In San Antonio, our office usually requires between 30 minutes to an hour to complete a session. It’s performed as an outpatient procedure with minimal downtime.

What Halo Treats

Because it provides both ablative and non-ablative laser energy, Halo laser treatment addresses:

  • Dark spots
  • Sun damage
  • Wrinkles
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Acne scarring
  • Uneven texture
  • Large pores
  • Frown lines
  • Other scars

The Halo Treatment Process

Our process helps you choose the right treatment for the best results.

Consultation

It all starts with a personal consultation. We want to find out more about you, your goals for treatment, your concerns, and your medical history. It’s an open conversation where you’ll be listened to and heard.

During your first visit, we will also assess your skin’s overall health using the VISIA device.

The VISIA Skin Analysis System uses a multi-point positioning system—which rotates around the patient—with live image overlay. Using VISIA, our providers capture facial images to assess base-line skin health and then better track your aesthetic progress over time.

Preparation

When you come in for your appointment, you’ll first recline on one of our super-comfy treatment tables. Most of our patients find the treatment to be completely tolerable with little to no discomfort.

However, if your skin is particularly sensitive, we have optional numbing treatments available for your comfort. Be sure to talk with your provider about your tolerances, as the topical numbing agents will need additional time to take effect.

You’ll be given protective eye goggles to wear just before the laser is applied.

Treatment

Using smooth and even strokes, your Marcos Medical team member will glide the Halo laser handpiece across the skin in your treatment areas. Through visual feedback and multiple safety protocols, the laser will apply the predetermined energies to your skin.

We will check with you throughout the device passes so that any discomfort is kept to a minimum.

You should expect 1 to 2 treatments about a month apart. This allows for healing from the first treatment, and we’ll perform a VISIA update to compare the new results to your initial consultation.

Should a second session be recommended, we’ll schedule it at your convenience.

Recovery

You can expect a burning sensation immediately after the treatment similar to a sunburn. This slight sting/tenderness usually dissipates after a couple of hours.

Expect redness and swelling for approximately 3 days. You may want to take some social downtime, though most patients don’t take time off from work.

These side effects should be cleared up by day 7.

Results

Results from Halo Sciton usually start to show within 7 days of treatment. These results most often continue to improve over the course of several months following a patient’s final Halo treatment.

And—of course—there’s that healthy, youthful Halo glow to enjoy!

Moxi Laser

Our gentle and effective Moxi laser helps you achieve radiant skin that glows with health. Using only non-ablative energy, the 1927 nm fractionated Moxi laser only takes 8 to 10 minutes to apply and requires practically no downtime at all after treatment.

How Moxi Works

Moxi’s laser technology gently targets pigmentation issues and enhances skin texture, penetrating to the just-right, customized depth for your needs.

As the laser heats water within your skin’s dermis cells, it stimulates collagen production without ablating the skin’s surface. Amazingly, Moxi constantly monitors skin temperature in real time to provide a personalized and dynamic treatment experience. It’s safe, it’s easy, and it’s effective!

This triggers a natural healing cascade, rebuilding collagen and elastin matrices while tightening skin. And because Moxi is precisely tunable, it can address superficial sun damage for a more even skin tone.

This amazing system can be used for laser skin resurfacing in San Antonio on multiple treatment areas, including:

  • Face
  • Neck
  • Chest
  • Arms
  • Hands
  • Legs

The Moxi Treatment Process

It starts with an open, honest conversation.

Consultation

As with any treatment, it all starts with you. We’ll take time to talk with you about your goals, your hopes, and your current issues. We’ll also want to explore some of your medical history and other aesthetics treatments you’ve had.

Included in our consultation is the VISIA Skin Analysis. Just as with the Halo laser treatment, we’ll use your initial VISIA results as the baseline of your skin’s health and appearance. Then, as your skin improves through aesthetics and skincare treatments and services, we’ll use VISIA scan results to track the progression of your treatment.

Treatment

During your Moxi laser session, you’ll lie back on a comfortable treatment table, and put on protective eye goggles. When you’re ready, your Marcos Medical provider will use the specialized Moxi laser handpiece, gliding it across the skin in your treatment area.

The fractional laser creates thousands of tiny micro-channels in the skin, delivering therapeutic heat below the skin’s surface. This triggers your body’s natural healing response, promoting collagen and elastin production while enhancing cell turnover. Cells are replaced with new, healthy cells—including the cells causing age spots and areas of hyperpigmentation.

Because the Moxi laser is a gentler form of laser skin resurfacing in San Antonio, most patients require 3 to 4 treatments to achieve optimal effects.

Recovery

As with most other laser skin resurfacing options, you can expect a burning sensation immediately after the treatment. Most patients liken it to how a sunburn feels, except that the sensation goes away after a couple of hours.

You can also expect the skin in your treatment area to appear red and slightly swollen for approximately 1 to 3 days. Feel free to wear makeup 24 hours after treatment.

Results

Moxi laser treatment works for all skin types, improving the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, pore size, and uneven skin texture. It can also help with skin discoloration caused by conditions like melasma or rosacea.

5 to 7 days after treatment, you should see positive results, with complete results showing over the next few months as your body’s natural healing response finishes.

What Moxi Treats

  • Pigmentation issues
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Uneven texture
  • Melasma
  • Frown lines
  • Acne scarring
  • Dark spots
  • Sun damage
  • Scars

Younger patients use Moxi for prejuvenation, too, delaying the appearance of aging while supporting their skin’s natural healing processes.
